Epilepsy and Cannabis

By on December 9, 2014

“The Epilepsy Foundation supports the rights of patients and families living with seizures and epilepsy to access physician directed care, including medical marijuana. Nothing should stand in the way of patients gaining access to potentially life-saving treatment.” ~Epilepsy Foundation~

Four articles on epilepsy in one day (on ScienceDaily.com) is no coincidence on the rising rates of this disorder. One of the four articles however may shed some light in a non-invasive way. That being a computer algorithm, created during a Crowdsource competition developed to detect, predict and prevent a seizure from occurring. Sounds promising, however it is still quite new and no telling its long term effect. Whatever the cause, prevention is key and safer less invasive treatment is needed.

As a Baby Boomer… this, autism, ADD, ADHD and most other ailments and dis-ease that have become common place today were virtually unheard of. Even more mind boggling is the vast majority of physicians idiotic ways to do what they do best… offer a Quick Fix. Never mind looking at food as our Farmacy or getting the parents cleaned/detoxed BEFORE conception. Their solution seems to always be on the pHARMaceutical end of things. And as IF that weren’t bad enough, now they’re talking BRAIN SURGERY. Oye VAY… what will they think of next?!

Using cannabis oil for epilepsy is no secret. Besides prime time news airing this information last year, there are more than half a million links to it online. It is the very reason many parents left their hometowns and went to Colorado for relief, by none other than Mother Nature! It is no miracle cure–it was once part of the Hippocratic Oath. It is also what Dr. Sanjay Gupta covered on CNN.

“Take the case of **Charlotte Figi, who I met in Colorado. She started having seizures soon after birth. By age 3, she was having 300 a week, despite being on seven different medications. Medical marijuana has calmed her brain, limiting her seizures to 2 or 3 per month.” ~Dr. Sanjay Gupta is a neurosurgeon and CNN’s chief medical correspondent~

Not only did Dr. Sanjay Gupta allow his transparency to come forth, he became a believer and apologized on national television! We can’t and shouldn’t knock something we’ve never tried, done thorough research on, and/or known at least one person who benefited from it. My brother is alive 30 years later from cannabis. Like detox, so many want proof before trying. Ignorance is neither bliss nor does it lead to longevity. I’ve known several who have researched themselves to death. May this not be you.

“The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.” ~Wayne Dyer~

**because of the precious girl, one particular strain used for epilepsy is Charlotte’s Web.
