DIY Acne Scar Remover

By on February 4, 2015

haven’t had acne scars (though plenty others) to remove, however I have used most of these and continue to use baking soda and olive oil. Absolutely LOVE using fresh aloe (and eating it!), but all mine are being plant sat while I’m on the road.

A few not listed as an acne scar remover/exfoliator is Vitamin C crystals. I get mine at Trader Joe ‘s. While some may say they’re not true ascorbic acid, I happen to like it! Mixed with a lil apple cider vinegar and baking soda and you’ve got quite the invigorating plop plop fizz fizz of a scrub!

Knowing what causes acne is half the battle

A few main culprits are pasteurized dairy (probiotics in raw milk/yogurt/kefir are good for you), salty greasy foods (like chips, French fries, pizza and greasy burgers), peanut butter, too many non-raw nuts/seeds and even chocolate, though no doubt milk chocolate. Sugary foods and foods that turn to sugar (breads, pastas).

HYGIENE is also key–not just for the face but also your hands (that touch the face). However, like antibiotics, soap and water can wash off too much of the good stuff thereby disrupting the pH of the skin, leaving it even more vulnerable. Coconut oil (raw is best), while oily can be used to wash the face. It is anti-bacterial/fungal/viral/parasitic and inflammatory, all of which are great for the skin. Simply rub it in, leave it on a bit then gently wipe off excess. Skin may want to break out at first, but it’ll begin helping pull toxins out of the skin. Can’t forget raw honey–used as a mask can clean skin, while the enzymes do their magic to help liven it up.

One way to keep hands germ free w/o subjecting yourself to triclosan (hormone disrupters found in anti-bacterial hand washes), is with a H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) handy dandy spray bottle!

The list of causes and treatments can go on. Just know medications and hormones can also cause, which is a really good reason to do a liver cleanse anytime, and in the summer eat and/or juice lots of watermelon. Buying organic seeded will allow you to save the seeds, then dry and powder to make tea. So good for your kidneys, some sell it for $40/pound. **Since our skin is referred to as our 3rd kidney, flushing those help clear the skin. As my former employer would say… when our kidneys are sluggish our skin tries to poop out what they can’t.

I think women should start to embrace their age. What’s the alternative to getting older? You die. I can’t change the day I was born. But I can take care of my skin, my body, my mind, and try to live my life and be happy.” ~Olivia Munn~

There is no one-size-fits-all cause or cure, but knowing your triggers and healers will help bring back your flawless skin and make acne and the scars a thing of the past. All without harsh, toxic, expensive and temporary chemical peels. Even the good ingredient ones can leave skin more sensitive (especially to the sun).
